Feverfew - Live Plant

$9.99

Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium)

4 inch pot size with plant height between 6- 20 inches

Feverfew is a short lived perennial that grows into a small bush. Crushed leaves have a pungent smell. Some use the died crushed leaves as a insect repellent. Daisy-like flowers appear over a long period from mid spring through early summer.

Sunlight:
Plant feverfew in a location with full sunlight to partial shade. It generally prefers at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily.

Soil:
Provide well-draining soil with a slightly alkaline to neutral pH. Feverfew is adaptable to various soil types but thrives in moderately fertile soil.

Watering:
Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Feverfew appreciates regular watering, especially during dry periods. Mulching around the plant can help retain soil moisture.

Temperature:
Feverfew is hardy and can tolerate cooler temperatures. However, it may go dormant in extreme heat. In warmer climates, some afternoon shade can be beneficial.

Spacing:
Plant feverfew with sufficient spacing to allow for good air circulation. This helps prevent diseases and promotes healthy growth.

Fertilizing:
Feverfew doesn't require heavy fertilization. A balanced, all-purpose fertilizer applied in spring can be sufficient. Avoid excessive nitrogen.

Pruning:
Regularly deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming. Pruning can also help maintain the plant's shape and prevent it from becoming leggy.

Mulching:
Apply a layer of mulch around the base of the plant to help retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature.

Pests and Diseases:
Feverfew is generally resistant to pests and diseases. However, watch for common issues like aphids or spider mites. Treat with insecticidal soap if needed.

Companion Planting:
Feverfew is known to repel insects, making it a good companion plant for repelling pests from nearby vegetables or other herbs.
